Pups, play and popcorn

I was a little nervous to step inside the Shank family's home. You see–they had done many sessions before, either posed or with a bright lifestyle approach. Would my mostly black-and-white documentary pictures make them happy?

In the four hours we spent together, there was backyard play, lunch flapjack making, baby naps, dress-up play, soap bubbles and water balloon fights – perfect activities for a super hot day where the mercury climbed up towards 90F.

It's funny–it doesn't matter how many sessions I do, I always get nervous before a session. That quickly melts away as I step in, and get to hang out with awesome parents and silly kiddos. The next nervous hits once I've sent off a family's pictures, and await a reaction.

"Wow wow wow! These are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for capturing our family! These pictures mean the world to us and your work is absolutely stunning! Thank you." - Stefanie

YAY! Happy family, happy day.

I wasn't quite sure where to pop in this serious guard dog portrait, so he gets featured here on his own!
